Mother is a person, who is looked upon with respect, reverence and love. If she is present, an assurance is there that nothing can ever go wrong. A mother is a reservoir of everything and anything. So when in perilous water she becomes the shore of calmness and support. A mother is a blessing from god to mankind and above all, most importantly she is a woman. The count of such children across the globe is approximately 153 million and unfortunately 31 million orphans are found in India. Many of these children are abandoned by their parents and many other have either lost their parents or sold off by relatives for money. This is a very harsh and cruel reality in a country like India which is developing in every sphere but is unable to come out of the dark dungeon of child trafficking.
Child trafficking is an offence and is punishable by law but sadly the law is not stringent enough to bring the culprits behind the bars. Government need to adhere to law more strictly so as to put a stop to the increasing rate of such crime. Children who are either abandoned or sold off should be rescued and placed in a proper and safe shelter home which could be governmental or non-governmental organization. It’s time for the country to take a stand for these children and take up their responsibility. As the country is also a motherland, so the custodian of the country can be the surrogate mother for these children.
If proper channel is provided then these children can be made into a worthy citizen and the government and law abiding citizen can join the hand be their care taker and fill the emptiness of the mother. Though it’s a fact no one can ever take the place of mother but an attempt is necessary as they too deserve the quality life which is otherwise given to any other child. Moreover, the book of law has given them their due in form of Acts and its only matter of proper execution.
